Plants that need a home....

I have to find homes for these lovelys as im getting too many surviving plants now.( I am cursed with curbside rescues of plants..I grab them and nurse them back to health(water,good soil,care)then i have to give them up to homes. Members sometimes send me pictures of them as they grow.I know..I'm a suck for plants.!
Here is the Tansy...its yellow.


Its coupled with some Lavender that Telsing gave me...its doing ok Telsing...i have to share it tho...
Also i have Comfrey.I have tried to take it out and put it in the bucket for now. Thought it might still grow and even under the worst conditions...it grows...

Then there is this leafy tall flower that has LOTS of stem and leaf...then some yellow type buttercupflowers i can't identify...anyone..?

Then this plant was given tome by a nice lady.i didnt have the heart to tell her..I dont like it.It just needs a nice BIG pot and more soil.

And closer again..dont know what it is called...it needs a bigger pot and some lovely fresh soil..

I can spare a chinese lantern.

A Pointsetta.I had this at Christmas time. I found it after christmas at the curb.Took it in,watered it. Then i stuck it out for the spring and summer.It died and came back.Im betting with some plant food this will sprout red ones for Chrismas.

This is justtolet Jen (dovetail) knowthat the plant she gave me is moved again for the last time.It doesnt like full sun..or even lots..it likes a shady spot. This rododemdrom(sp) is in its forever spot.I told you would take care of it..no,..its not up for grabs.

Marie,..Youre Forthyia cuttings are sitting in Planting/rooting solution.The branches are budding.

This is a beautiful tropical indoor plant.It is absolutley lovely with the right care.It has to go..boohoo

Very colourful foliage on this indoor. I have had this for some time.Slow growing it has been for me.Mind you,sometimes it didnt get watered.It likes water.

More than the yellow Tansy could stand..so it fell over.This is the clump..

Maybe another hybiscus.Guess which one. (they are screaming..aaaww,mom)Its hard,..but i cant bring them all in.

I Got So Many Bloomin' Plants!

Its amazing how Justy's hybiscus seeds came up.At least I think they were from Justy'seeds.The Hibiscus i had in the spot these amazing blooms came up i brought in.(Same kind). These are the kind of hybiscus you can grow outside in Ontario. Look at the amazing saucer flowers. I'm so happy with them.(They need stakes) They really graced my front bed this summer.The Hybiscus is blooming also..smiling away...

LOTS of blooms they gave me.

The Zinnia's grew quite big (from Canadian Tire).The Amaranth grew but not tall.This is because of bad and shallow soil i suspect. Oh well, better than nothing.:)

The RoseofSharon Hybiscus is blooming too,..next to Telsing's flowering Garlic Chives...and the much anticipated black tomato plant i am waiting to share with the group.

Hereis a picture of my Hybiscus that have successfully bloomed for me ..it needs a home..its in a redish kinda pot on the left.Blooms are a kinda red i think...

There's also some potted chocolate mint...mmmmmm

Tansy I've mentioned...how about some pothos?..anyone want one..very hardy..
Great for begginners..they dont neeed alot of care...they are on the left of the picture in a bigger white pot in front of the chocolate mint i take cuttings from.


Do you see the coleus with its bright and colourful foliage too..?
Ahhhhh,..but summer has been glorious with summer blooms. It grows on....I have more...

OttawaPlantCycle's Plot

Hi again,

I am going to submit some photos to OttawaPlantCycle's blog. I havent updated for a while and plants have grown some.
This is a pic of the Orleans Community Gardens that we helped open up with help from Founder Tom Brerer (An Orleans resident whowanted to open a garden for his community). Along with The Cumberland Resourse Centre and The Community Gardens Network. We were all on the Steering Committee for a year until the Grand opening.
Here are some pictures of the gardens now and some of the pickings...
First there is a natural hedgerow around the forest/woods area so lots of berries

We are located at Tenth line and St.Joseph in Orleans...right in front of the police station.

And..

We had some lovely plots and everyone worked hard for a good plot.


It wasthe first year and late in staring for some. With no water available yet and members lugging their own water in barrels and pails we did get some good crops.!
Lots of Tomatoes.Mostly cherry (probably that Belcourt mans toms),and some plum.

Peppers..

Squashes,


Pumpkins.?


Cabbages ..and onions..


Some planted ramdomly in empty patches,

Lots of Zucchinni..

Some plots kept an eye out for the local rodenst in the garden that have been snacking on veggies for free..huh!

...And some just didnt make it. The groundhogs were laughing that day,..

not for long my friends..we shall unite here at the gardens hehe..We have real experts on hand that have LOTS of gardening tips.Its always a pleassant time.
We also have a herb patch.

Of course,more tomatoes.Our food bank plot had lots

Enough that we were able to donate many....

That was our first batch.We were able to place a sign with our name on it at the food bank so people would know where the veggies came from.That was cool.
For the first year and rough grounds to start ,(we plowed and will plow again this fall and spring),we all did really well.

The bad news is....
Im confused now lol.
I DID run out and take a picture of the nieghbours garden,.... well, actually its the nieghbour of the nieghbours garden,...i woulda been trespassing if i took the actual nieghbours garden picture as she has a privacy fence in front and i couldnt get to it.(do i have to ask permission to photograph my nieghbours garden anyone know.?..if im putting it in a blog?). Its all the same thing tho as i got all the nieghbours in on the butterfly bush "rave" lol.We are all growing the same seeds.

Notice beside her 'butterfly bush" is some sunflowers.?They are mine.lol.or "were".
they are from last years seeds i gave her.Hers reseeded. Mine did not.Maybe the jerusalem artichokes "choked' them all off.?

O.k. so i'm a little envious lol.
Remember i said a while back her hollyhocks had towered like a fountain while mine didnt come up.?

I find some pleasure from looking at the Datura blooming for me. (these are the white and black? ones i purchased in Navan at the nurserie there).

The Castor Bean is growing as well and i seem to have to pods i hope are seeds i can share.


I have to point out this nifty little device i picked up from Walmmart yesterday for just around seven bucksi purchased the last one here in Orleans so maybe try another Walmart if you are looking to buy one). It has eight settings for the water to spray. Quite handy .

The good news is...
The white Datura bloomed,

Man,..those Zinnia sure grow and bloom. I was quite happy with that Canadian Tire investment this year.
The Sweet Potato plant bloomed a lovely pale lilacy coloured flower,

...AND..Last but not least,...The Tomatoes that "did" make it..are ready to pick.Ta da..(I just happen to have some bacon cooked and toast ready hehe).

Think i will go nourish this gardeners "engine" with a tasty sandwich.Then i'll go weed....NOT!!!
